Google have released their first ever phones; the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. This is Google’s first attempt and they have pretty much nailed it. They have killed off the famous Nexus line, and what they have now is already looking much much better. here’s a quick overview of Goog;e’s new devices
- 5 inch full HD AMOLED display
- 32/128GB storage
- 4GB RAM
- Snapdragon 821 processor
- 12.3MP rear camera (dual-LED)
- 8MP front camera
- 2770 mAh battery
- Gorilla Glass 4
The Google Pixel XL is similar in most aspects but has a beautiful 5.5 inch QuadHD display and a larger 3450 mAh battery to compensate for that.
Both devices come with a smarter, more personal Google Assistant. This is an upgraded Google Now. Assistant is currently only available on the Pixel phones, and is something they are pushing to be a centrepiece of your life. It’s smarter, more useful and a whole lot more fun.
The Pixel is something new for Google and with it’s bright vibrant screen and excellent hardware, I can see why they are looking to rival Apple on their iPhones. It even has the high price range to match!
Samsung has official guidelines that will help those looking to buy the Note 7 recognise the new Note 7’s from those with explosive batteries. Samsung now have a green battery icon as well a black square symbol on the label that holds the phones info such as the IMIE number that is on the side/back of the box.
Samsung have recalled ALL Galaxy Note 7 devices, around the world, due to major battery issues. More than 70 phones have over heated due to the issue, and this is in the US alone.
The phone launched last month after huge hype. Samsung’s note series has a reputation of being one of the best phones on the market. This is a blow for Samsung, one i am sure they would like to forget.
Asus have announced the ZenWatch 3. The new smartwatch is one of the first to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chipset which is specifically designed for smartwatches (unlike the snapdragon 400 that was being used before). The new processor means that it has a 25% boost in battery efficiency, meaning no need to charge that watch every two nights. Along side this the Asus has HyperCharge technology, enabling a much faster charge time.
This is the first round watch for Asus and it comes with a 1.39-inch OLED display with a 400 x 400 resolution, running Android Wear and it is one I look forward to hearing more about.
OnePlus are at it again. The flagship killer is back with the OnePlus 3: by far the best phone this year. Of course I only talk by what’s on paper. The OnePlus 3 boasts hardware like no other.
I recently purchased the OnePlus 2. I have never held a phone like it. A phone so well designed. A phone that has everything. I thought to myself, how can they make this better? Not only did they manage to do so, but this phone will still be the best going into 2017.
OnePlus have boasts 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, Snapdragon 820 processor (dual core 2.15GHz and dual core 1.6GHz), Adreno 530 GPU and a 5.5 inch Optic AMOLED display.
The OnePlus 3 packs a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front. The battery is a 3000 mAh that can give you over 60% in 30 minuets thanks to it’s dash charge technology. The body is made from 100% aluminium, giving it a premium feel and the premium finish a phone like this deserves.
The 4th generation of the Moto G is here and it comes in two variations. The moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus.
Both new models have a 5.5 inch 1080p display. On the inside they are similar too, with a Snapdragon 617 processor and a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging.
The Plus has some great features including a finger print scanner and a very handsome 16MP rear camera with laser and phade autofocus, compared to the standard G4’s 13MP camera. Both phones have a 5MP front camera. The standard Moto G4 has 2GB RAM and the G4 Plus has an option of 3GB if you choose the 32GB storage.
The Moto G4 will have a starting price of £169, and the G4 Plus starts at £199.
